The following are the some important things which are more essential for understanding and to score good marks in engineering drawing.
DRAWING INSTRUMENTS:
Mini-drafter
Drawing Sheet/Paper
Students are usually use A2 size drawing sheet
Pencils The selection of pencil is most important because the appearence and accuracy depends on the pencil. The following are the different types of pencils used in drawing.
There are so many types are recommanded but is difficult to carry all to the examination. My suggestion is,with only two pencils you can get excellent result. They are H/2H and HB. Protractor Compass Clips or tapes
LETTERING: Lettering is the important part in drawing.Writing of tittles, dimensions and other important details in drawing is called LETTERING. It should be done in a clear and eligible style. There are two classifications of lettering
1.Gothic Lettering
2.Roman lettering
Gothic Lettering
a)Single stroke vertical gothic lettering
b) Single stroke inclined gothic lettering
c) Double stroke vertical gothic lettering
d) Double stroke inclined gothic lettering
Roman lettering
The recommended size of lettering is as under :-

LINES: In engineering drawing different types of lines are used to describe different objects.
DIMENSIONING:
The
following rules should be considered while dimensioning:
- All dimensions should be specified in mm.
- Dimensions should be placed outside
the views.
- Dimension lines should not run in the direction included
in the hatched area.
- Dimensions should be taken from visible outlines rather
than from dashed lines.
- Dimensions should be given from a base line, a centre
line, an important hole, or a finished surface which may be readily
established.
- Overall dimensions should be placed outside the
intermediate dimensions.
- Dimensions should be placed outside a sectional view. Dimension line should not cross. Also dimension lines
and extension lines should not cross.
- When there are several dimension lines, the shorter
dimension should be nearer the view.
- Do not use outlines for dimensions.
METHODS: There are two types of methods in dimensioning.
1.Uni-directional system
2.Aligned system
